Pulisic speaks up England switch as journo names him Major LFC target

It’s been a while since the Christian Pulisic links surfaced…

Today in the Echo, Ian Doyle named the American on Liverpool’s shortlist, with Jurgen Klopp a long-term fan of the playmaker having initially seen him as a young teenager while managing Borussia Dortmund.

Since then, Pulisic has grown in stature and matured as a player, but is not actually an automatic starter for BVB under Lucien Favre, whose side are flying high at the top of the table.

Young Englishman Jadon Sancho has pushed him out of the side, as has Danish flyer Jacob Bruun Larsen.

We haven’t actually been especially impressed with Pulisic for some time and think he’s stagnating after an exciting breakthrough a few years back.

But the player is still linked to English sides all the time, and has suggested it’s something he’s up for.

“England, the Premier League, is a League where lots of kids dream of playing so there is no reason why maybe one day I won’t play here,” he said, reported in the Independent, when asked about his contract which expires in 2020.

Pulisic can play between the lines, cutting in from the flanks and linking midfield to attack. He has technical skills and fantastic vision, although his end product is not yet anywhere near consistent enough.

Considering his contract situation, there might be an opportunity to sign Pulisic for a reasonable fee in the not too distant future – like next summer perhaps – but it’s not one we’re excited about for this January.
