Ramos responds to Lovren’s overrated jibes with subtle dig

Sergio Ramos has tried to end the feud between himself and Dejan Lovren, but couldn’t help but get the last word…

A few weeks back, Lovren had referred to Real Madrid’s captain as overrated, claiming his repeated errors are blinded by the fact he plays for such a good team.

“If you look, Ramos has many more mistakes than me but he’s at Real Madrid,” Lovren said.

“With Ramos, when you make a mistake, it’s 5-1, 5-2 and nobody sees the mistake.”

In fairness, the Spanish defender could have responded much more harshly than he did, but still reminded Lovren of who won their Champions League Final encounter.

“I’ve said it many times. I don’t know if these things are said out of frustration or for other reasons,” he told beinSPORTS.

“I’m not going to answer Lovren or whoever wants to win three front pages or start the news bulletin. Everyone wins things for himself on the pitch.”

Really, we don’t think Lovren needs to be picking off-field fights with legendary opponents, even if Ramos is a horrible piece of work.

He should focus on getting himself in the Liverpool team and proving he’s really as good as he’s told us…

Right now though, that’s going to be hard, with Joe Gomez usurping him in our first-choice XI alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Gomez is 21 and will only get better, while Lovren is approaching 30. For a defender, this is actually his peak years, so it’s only good for Liverpool that we have top level competition for a key position.
