Reds dealt transfer blow as Premier League retain rule Klopp hates

Next summer’s transfer window for clubs in England will close before the season starts after it was agreed at a meeting between all Premier League clubs this week – but Jurgen Klopp will not be pleased.

Klopp has previously been critical of the idea because it puts English clubs at a disadvantage given the rest of Europe’s top leagues can still do deals.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Klopp has previously stated: “I really thought the idea of moving the transfer window was good but only if we do it all together.”

The Reds and other English clubs can still sell to other European teams, but cannot buy anyone once the season starts. The logic is sound, but only really works if everyone in Europe agrees to the same thing.

It must be said, though, that it will be easier to get business done next season since there is no World Cup or European Championship to contend with.
