King Kenny Dalglish was officially given his knighthood at Buckingham Palace today – and he responded in a typically humble manner.

As well as his incredible football career, the King was crucial in the aftermath of the Hillsborough disaster for each of the affected families and has raised £10 million for charity alongside his wife, Marina.

Via The Daily Record, the King said: “When you start off in your life, what do you want? You just want to play football.

“And when you play football, what do you want to do? You want to try and be successful, be a professional footballer, try and win something.”

On his incredible contribution and show of support following Hillsborough, he humbly added: “They were fantastically supportive of the football club and at that instance, it was important for us to turn supporter.

“They needed a bit of help, we wanted to help them, and I’m sure they would have done the same for us – I think that’s what life is all about.”

There aren’t sufficient words to describe the impact he had on every Liverpool fan; he’s an incredible man in so many ways.
