Pulisic: when I’ll discuss possible summer transfer

Posted by

Christian Pulisic says he will sit down to consider his future at Borussia Dortmund during the Bundesliga’s winter break in January.

The USA international has been strongly tipped to leave next summer amid stuttering negotiations over a contract extension at the club.

A failure to reach an agreement would likely see Dortmund opt to sell Pulisic at the end of next season in order to avoid losing him on a free upon the expiry of his current deal in 2020.

Recent rumours have pointed towards a tug-of-war between Liverpool and Chelsea for his services, with Jurgen Klopp known to be an avid admirer of the forward.

Discussing his plans, Pulisic told NBC Sports: “I’m still focused on Dortmund. We are doing great this season.”

“Once the break comes [in January], that is always when I will have to discuss with Dortmund and see about my future.”

Pulisic has predominantly plied his trade in a wide attacking role for Dortmund since his breakthrough as a teenager in 2016.

Hints within his footballing anatomy of a future as a more central playmaker have also seen him deemed an ideal long-term solution to Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho-shaped void.

Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc recently ruled out a January move for the 20-year-old after reports indicated Chelsea were keen to seal a deal as early as the mid-season window in fear of a potential transfer ban.

It would come as a major surprise were Klopp not to throw his hat into the ring if Pulisic is to land on the market in 2019.
