Jurgen Klopp receives major fitness boost ahead of Watford clash

Jurgen Klopp is set to have Jordan Henderson at his disposal again following the midfielder’s latest injury setback.

The Liverpool captain missed England’s 2-1 win over Croatia at the weekend after picking up a minor problem as a second half substitute in Thursday’s friendly against the USA.

His early return to Melwood raised fears of another spell on the sidelines following a recent four-game absence with a hamstring injury that he had picked up in October’s 1-0 win over Huddersfield.

Henderson will now be fit for selection when the Reds resume their Premier League title challenge against Watford on Saturday, according to Sky Sports.

His return marks a welcomed boost as Liverpool wait on summer signings Naby Keita and Fabinho to find their top form on Merseyside.

Klopp’s men notably missed Henderson during tough away trips to face Arsenal and RB Leipzig earlier this month, with the loss of his intensity proving key.

The importance of his availability is somewhat heightened by Wednesday’s Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain, granting Klopp the freedom to rotate his midfield in view of preserving legs across both of next week’s fixtures.

A demanding fortnight continues the following weekend with a Merseyside derby in which Henderson’s experience and leadership may well prove significant.
