Klopp offers update on Sturridge amid FA betting charge

Jurgen Klopp insists Daniel Sturridge’s pending FA case has not affected him, saying he is ‘in contention’ to play at Watford.

Earlier in the week, Sturridge requested more time to respond to the charge for breaching betting regulations, according to the BBC.

Klopp said at his press conference: “I know about the case. You don’t see any influence in training. I cannot say anything about the case – it’s difficult to get information about it.

“He’s completely normal; looks sharp, looks focused. As long as he trains well, he is 100 per cent in contention.”

Whether Sturridge will start or not remains to be seen, with Roberto Firmino perhaps more likely to begin the match. He can certainly be a useful weapon off the bench.
