L’Equipe try to unsettle Liverpool with purposely timed article one day before CL clash – but it won’t work

PSG mouthpiece L’Equipe have once again published the nonsensical claim that Fabinho could move to the club in January, despite Jurgen Klopp unequivocally ruling out the possibility just last week.

“Of course he will not leave,” the boss told the official website. “I don’t talk about transfers but if you want to ask, nobody leaves here. That would be completely crazy – he doesn’t want to, it’s only the crazy world out there that people, if they don’t play in the last five games, immediately open kind of a transfer market. We are not involved in that.”

The French sports outlet are suggesting that Thomas Tuchel sees Fabinho as the perfect January addition, because he can play both as a right-back and in holding midfield – and knows Ligue 1 already from his time at AS Monaco.

The article says PSG will look to loan Fabinho, with an option to buy him permanently in the summer.

Why on earth would Liverpool purposely weaken the team mid-season when we’re challenging on all fronts?

It’s a preposterous idea, especially as Fabinho is finally settling in and has impressed us when given the nod, especially at Anfield v Red Star when his recovery stats were jaw-dropping.

It’s no surprise the Fake News drops on the eve of Liverpool’s crunch tie with the Parisians, of course…

But right now, Liverpool are in good form and on the back of two comfortable Premier League wins, which saw five goals scores and none conceded.

PSG will be a much tougher test than Fulham or Watford, but one we have the mettle to get through.
