Summer 2018 signing speaks potential Liverpool exit: ‘You never know’

Liverpool’s Swiss maestro Xherdan Shaqiri is open to a move back to Italy in the future, although has made sure fans know he’s happy at Anfield right now.

The 27-year-old was discussing his time at Inter Milan in 2015, where he played 15 times before eventually moving to Stoke City and the Premier League.

Shaqiri’s stint in Serie A is regarded as a failure, considering his levels of talent, but he’s very much needed at Liverpool right now!

“I had some good times there, and I couldn’t criticise Inter Milan ever,” Shaqiri told Gazzetta dello Sport as quoted by the Daily Star.

“A lot of players joined in that winter, such as Podolski, Kovacic, myself, and a lot of changes were ongoing.

“Go back to Italy? I’m fine at Liverpool, but you never know.”

Since arriving this summer, Shaqiri has been one of the squad’s most consistently impressive performers, even though Jurgen Klopp has often been worried about the tactical ramifications of starting him.

With Shaqiri, we play a different formation, more akin to a 4-2-3-1, which potentially leaves the midfield a little open.

For us though, it’s the only way to go forward as it enables there to be a link between the midfield and the attack, which hasn’t existed this season when Shaqiri hasn’t been present.
