(Video) Mainz share must-watch Jurgen Klopp throwback after derby celebrations

You could say Jurgen Klopp has toned down his goal celebrations slightly since arriving at Liverpool.

That’s judging by footage shared by former club Mainz of the German sprinting around half the pitch to celebrate a late equaliser against Borussia Monchengladbach back in 2005.

Klopp is seen leaving his dugout, kicking the advertising boards and taking a tumble for his troubles on his way to celebrating in front of the travelling supporters with goalscorer Michael Thurk and his teammates.

It marked evidence of the ecstasy and raw passion that has seen him rise as one of the most unique and captivating managers in world football.

Liverpool fans were given a familiar glimpse of this on Sunday when he invaded the Anfield pitch to celebrate Divock Origi’s extraordinary 96th minute Merseyside derby winner.

Here’s a look back at that trademark reaction with Mainz…

Memorable celebrations have become a bonus theme to what has so far been an enthralling managerial tenure on Merseyside.

Think Christian Benteke breaking his glasses in a huddle after the 5-4 win away to Norwich, the Klopp-led bow to the Kop after the 4-3 win over Borussia Dortmund, Sadio Mane’s piggy-back during the 4-3 victory away to Arsenal on the opening day. The list goes on.

His reaction at the weekend was only in keeping to the ridiculous nature of a moment that will go down in Reds folklore and Premier League history. You could blame no manager in world football for acting as he did.

He is everything you could want a Liverpool boss to be.
