Xherdan Shaqiri was Liverpool’s Man of the Match against Manchester United for his two goals to win the game, but behind him, Fabinho was excellent throughout.
His tackling and passing were top notch and he bossed the centre of the pitch in one of the biggest matches in world football.

Jurgen Klopp was certainly impressed with the Brazilian.
Jürgen Klopp says Fabinho was "outstanding" and played "at the highest level" while Naby Keita "was so naturally intelligent in using the half-spaces." #LFC

And Reds supporters were no different…
Can we take a moment to appreciate Fabinho’s performance today? Bossed the midfield and preventing them from taking control. Beautiful assist to Mané’s goal. Best player on the pitch, has to start every game. pic.twitter.com/IasKqX6tb6

Forget allegiances to any players in the squad. If you don’t see what Fabinho brings you don’t understand football

We’re really starting to see the best bits of Fabinho now. Dominated the centre with ease, picked good forward passes and did his usual fishhook tackles with those absurdly long legs 👏🏼

Fabinho MOTM for me tonight. Broke up the play well to stop United stringing any passes together in midfield. Vision & weight of pass for Mane’s goal impeccable. Possesses the perfect combination of defensive resilience and forward ingenuity.

Fabinho easily MOTM today. What an immense performance from him. Tell ya what, anyone who’s doubting this team surely isn’t anymore. Title contenders, borderline favourites. Get the fuck in

Fabinho has been brilliant.

Too often, people want Jordan Henderson out of the team for no reason other than they don’t like him – but Fabinho has to be number one for the time being.
The captain is by no means a bad player, but Fabinho has really shown why he was brought in these last couple of weeks – he’s been outstanding. Long may that continue.
