LFC ‘join the race’ for phenomenal Bundesliga striker – Report

Liverpool will fight Bayern Munich for the signature of Timo Werner next summer, according to the Daily Mail.

They cite German source Abendzeitung, but after investigating the initial report, we cannot find a single mention of our club, only Bayern and Rb Leipzig!

This is either a weird accident or a total fabrication from the English newspaper; and knowing them as we do, we’d suggest the latter…

Werner is a top level international forward with 21 goals in both of his past two seasons at Rb. This campaign he’s already notched 13 and is a starter for the Germany team as well.

At 22-years-old, Werner has a serious future ahead of him, but we’d be surprised if he’s on Liverpool’s radar.

Jurgen Klopp loves Roberto Firmino and this season, has regularly selected Mo Salah as our focal central forward…

We have the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Dom Solanke as backup, with Rhian Brewster and Bobby Duncan big talents in the Academy.

It would be our guess that while Liverpool might go big for a playmaker next summer; a genuine option at no.10, we won’t sign a striker for big money unless Firmino or Salah depart – which they won’t.
