Klopp’s warning for Reds fans as we reach the halfway mark unbeaten

Jurgen Klopp accepts that Liverpool have had an exceptional season so far – but knows nothing is won in December.

The Reds are now seven points clear of Manchester City – and six clear of Spurs in second place – having beaten Newcastle United on Boxing Day, but with 19 matches remaining, there is still a long way to go in the Premier League title hunt.

The boss said to LiverpoolFC.com: “A good situation, that’s clear, but 19 games to go. We play City, we play Arsenal, we play Tottenham, we play all of them again and maybe in different competitions.

“So it’s very difficult, there’s a long way to go and we all know that. We have to win our games, we have to be focused, we need to be really in the mood with having tunnel vision.”

Klopp is absolutely correct, but there is no reason fans cannot get excited. This is what football is about – we are in a position to dream and there is no reason Liverpool cannot be the name on the league trophy in May.

Having conceded just seven times in half a campaign, the foundations are more solid than they have been in a long time.

While the players must focus on one game at a time, as fans we can try and enjoy the ride. Nothing can be won in December, but it can certainly be lost – and Liverpool are leading the race.
