Guardiola pays Liverpool the ultimate compliment before Etihad clash

Pep Guardiola has lavished praise on Liverpool, but to us, it seems like a thinly veiled attempt to paint Manchester City as the underdogs!

The Spaniard has claimed Jurgen Klopp’s side is the best on the planet right now, with City hosting us on January 3rd at the Etihad.

“The problem is the other team is fantastic,” Guardiola told BBC Sport.

“[Liverpool are] maybe the best team in Europe or the world right now and in top form.

“You have to accept it. All we can do is do our job, play our games and after that we will see.”

City, the most expensively assembled squad in the history of football, are by no means the underdogs, despite the current seven point gap between ourselves and them!

Even if we lose in a few days’ time, we’d still hold a four point lead; something we’d have snapped your hand off for at the beginning of December when we were trailing Guardiola’s champions.

We reckon though that in our current form, Klopp’s Reds can secure at least a point, with the travelling Kop likely to have a big influence on proceedings.

There’ll be an early storm to weather we imagine, but have the offence to cause City big problems on the break.
