Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has jokingly demanded an explanation from Liverpool after being omitted from a compilation of the club’s most memorable goals from 2018.
The midfielder’s bemusement was most likely in reference to his stunning long-range strike in the Reds’ Champions League quarter-final first leg against Manchester City.
His effort put Jurgen Klopp’s men 2-0 up after 20 minutes, with Sadio Mane adding a third just after the half hour mark to seal a commanding lead heading into the return fixture.
Commenting under the post, the Englishman wrote: “Can’t believe I’ve not made the cut. I need answers immediately.”

Two of the goals did arrive against City, but in the 4-3 win that saw Liverpool end the champions’ unbeaten run in the Premier League.
They include Roberto Firmino’s delicate chip after out-muscling John Stones, as well as Sadio Mane’s fierce left-footed strike from the edge of the box.
There are also places for Daniel Sturridge’s exquisite equaliser against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Mohamed Salah’s solo effort against Tottenham and Divock Origi’s extraordinary 96th minute winner against Everton.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has good reason to feel hard done by after seeing his Anfield stunner voted as Liverpool’s 2017/2018 Goal of the Season.
