Reds could lose 18-year-old starlet in £13.5 million deal

Reports in Portugal suggest that Reds youngster Rafa Camacho could be set to sign for Sporting Lisbon on an initial loan deal, with an option to buy for £13.5 million in a few month’s time.

O Jogo have made the claims over the last few days with the January window now open. Sporting directors are said to on their way to Merseyside to negotiate a transfer.

The 18-year-old highly-rated winger featured in Liverpool’s pre-season tour as a right-back and has appeared on the first-team bench a couple of times this season, so it would be a surprise to see him exit.

Camacho’s contract is believed to expire in 2020, so it could be that he wants to move on and guarantee himself top-level football. In that case, if he were not to sign a new deal, £13.5 million could simply be too high an amount to turn down.

Camacho was always expected to leave on loan this month, but not in a permanent deal, having impressed with the club’s under-18s and under-23s in the last couple of years.

The Reds would, at least, be getting a fee for him, unlike Bobby Adekanye, who is reportedly moving to Lazio on a free transfer.
