Journo suggests Reds could give new contract to ward off Chinese clubs

It’s hard to imagine Daniel Sturridge ever playing in China, but according to Simon Jones of the Daily Mail, there’s genuine interest from the Far East.

Monaco, Inter and AC Milan are all keen on our no.15, according to his report.

Yesterday marked six years to the day that Sturridge signed for Liverpool, but the Englishman’s deal expires at the end of this season and with it being the New Year, he’s legally allowed to discuss contract terms with any foreign club.

Sturridge hasn’t featured much recently, but he’s certainly played a role this term – most notably when he bagged that superb long range strike against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

If we do give Sturridge a new contract, it’d likely only be a year-long extension, with Rhian Brewster coming through and soon to be knocking on the door once he gets fit.

We’re surprised to hear an extension is a possibility, actually, but if Klopp thinks Sturridge has a longer term future at Anfield, then we’re all for it!
