Confirmed: Liverpool agree shock loan transfer

I’ll be honest. I don’t understand this transfer.

Nathaniel Clyne has joined Bournemouth on loan, despite the fact that Joe Gomez is currently injured and there’s not much in terms of natural backup for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Journalist Paul Joyce confirmed the news on his Twitter feed this lunchtime.

Clyne is very much a backup option at Liverpool now, but with an FA Cup tie with Wolves on the horizon, potentially followed by a 4th Round later this month, would it not have been smarter to hold on to the experienced England international for a little longer?

He’s just got fit and in our opinion, done very well in the games he’s been called upon.

For example, he was exceptional at home to Manchester United in the 3-1 victory, and enjoyed a cameo in the 4-0 Newcastle win, too.

When we’re going for the title, the bigger the squad the better.

Oh well. Perhaps the player had had enough of sitting on the bench and demanded an exit, which is a possibility. We wish him luck on the south coast, and hope there’s a recall option in case of an injury crisis at Anfield.
