Klopp shares frustrating update on Lallana injury situation

Jurgen Klopp says Adam Lallana’s latest injury setback is not a serious one, but it is one of a number of frustrating small injuries that have stopped him from fully participating this season.

Lallana missed the Wolves FA Cup match, which he was in line to start, thanks to a ‘minor knock’, and was expected to be back in time to make the bench at Brighton, but did make it.

Klopp, though, insists he is not concerned, and that Lallana will be back shortly.

According to the Daily Express, the boss said: “It’s not serious, he’ll probably be available for next week. It was only a little thing.

“Of course, it’s not nice, who would like that after the season he’s had? But you can’t change things that happened a day ago or an hour ago.

“You have to deal with it and he’s dealing well with it, he won’t lose confidence. He’s a mature person. It’s unlucky – no one likes it, but you have to deal with it.”

Lallana has been incredibly unfortunate this season and last with injuries, and has only featured in six of the 22 league games the Reds have played this campaign.

While Klopp says he could be back next week, though, we have heard similar things before.

He is a very good player, completely suited to the way Klopp wants the team to play, but only when he is at full tilt, which sadly does not happen too often any more.

There are few things more frustrating than having a player as good as Lallana unavailable all the time – and he must be incredibly irritated too.

Hopefully, his injuries subside before the end of the season and he can have a decent run until May, but it does appear that his time at Anfield could be coming to a close – even if Klopp is putting on a brave face.
