Ex-Manchester City man makes startling admission about the Reds

Former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure says he is ‘scared’ of Liverpool – and admits it is hard to see the Reds dropping too many points.

City are the only team to have beaten the Reds this season in the Premier League with 16 matches remaining in the title race.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Toure said: “Liverpool are very strong, in the last year they have been brilliant, getting to the final of the Champions League.

“The Premier League is one of the best in the world and this year is going to be so hard to call. Liverpool are very good at the moment and I am very scared of them.”

Toure picked out three men in particular that he fears in the Reds’ line-up and it was predictably the front three who terrorised City at times last season.

They ripped the City defence apart at times in the Champions League tie, most notably.

The Ivorian added: “As a City fan, I want them to drop points but it’s going to be difficult to be honest because this team are looking great. Salah with Sadio Mane and Firmino in front, I like them.”

Hopefully, the Reds continue their current good form. To get to 57 points after 22 matches is a great return, but it will mean nothing unless the title is won in May.

As Toure suggests, there is no reason to think that can’t happen – to beat City to the title would be a brilliant achievement.
