(Video) Bizarre: Ex-Red Raul Meireles as you’ve never seen him before

Posted by

Former Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles was spotted on Portuguese television over the weekend as no Reds fan will have seen him before.

Now 35, Meireles appeared on the Portuguese version of ‘Lip Sync Battle’, a show where contestants appear on stage to lip-sync along to songs and show off their dance moves.

Meireles opted to sing a 1980s hit by Portuguese artist Antonio Variacoes, as the video in the tweet below shows.

That certainly wasn’t something we were expecting to view today. His dance moves are questionable to say the least…

The midfielder played 35 times for the Reds, scoring five goals. He then joined Chelsea, before ending his career two seasons ago with Fenerbahce in Turkey.

He also appeared 76 times for his country, for whom he notched six goals.

The bizarre clip is definitely not what most footballers end up doing after they retire – although we wouldn’t put it past Roberto Firmino.
