£9m Dutchman could ease pressure from Sadio Mane, but Spurs also keen

Liverpool have been linked with Club Brugge youngster Arnaut Groeneveld, who is also interesting Spurs and Everton, claims the Independent.

The 21-year-old Dutchman plays on the left flank and is doing well in Belgium, having scored four goals domestically and once in the Champions League.

He’s quick, feisty and has plenty of skill, although like many wingers his age, he’s very raw and needs to improve tactically.

We don’t know too much about Groeneveld, but would support Liverpool acquiring a backup left winger at some point who can offer some competition for Sadio Mane.

The Senegalese is the only player we have who looks natural on the left, as Roberto Firmino is far more effective centrally, and both Xherdan Shaqiri and Mo Salah need to cut in from the right.

In terms of our own youngsters, Harry Wilson, currently on loan at Derby, is similarly more comfortable on the right, while Rhian Brewster is a striker.

We reckon there’s room in the squad for another left-sided attacker, but think this could be an area to focus on this summer rather than this January.
