(Video) Julian Speroni howler gifts Liverpool 3-2 lead over Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace Julian Speroni gifted Liverpool a 3-2 lead at Anfield on Saturday with a monumental second half error.

The 39-year-old, starting his first game since December 2017, flapped at James Milner’s cross to provide Mohamed Salah with the easiest finish of his career.

It subsequently marked the Egyptian’s 19th goal across all competitions so far this season and his 16th in the Premier League.

More importantly, it allowed the Reds to restore their one goal advantage as they looked to move seven points clear at the top of the table.

Liverpool went behind in the first half to an Andros Townsend goal, before turning things around early after the break through Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Poor defending from a corner then allowed James Tomkins to head Palace level, before the hosts responded again thanks to a helping hand from Speroni.

Sadio Mane made it four in the 93rd minute, but there was still time for late drama as Max Meyer pulled back a goal for the visitors to set up a nervy finish.

Thankfully, Jurgen Klopp’s men were able to hold out for all three points.

Here’s a look at Speroni’s costly mistake…
