Klopp reveals another right-back injury & states Camacho is man for the job

Liverpool won’t be entering the transfer market for a new right-back, despite the ridiculous current situation regarding players who can fill the role.

We’ve loaned out Nathaniel Clyne, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez are injured, James Milner is suspended and even Fabinho is struggling with a hamstring issue ahead of the Leicester clash at the end of this month.

Now, Klopp has explained that Ki-Jana Hoever has picked up a knock, suggesting that Rafa Camacho is a viable option for the role after his cameo against Crystal Palace.

“Trent got an injury and it’s serious but not that serious. He will be back early but I don’t know if early enough for the next game. Maybe the game after (at West Ham United the following Monday),” Klopp told the Echo.

“Everyone gives me the feeling, Trent as well, that that is absolutely possible but we have to wait and cannot risk anything. We have to come through this situation.

“Tell me a player who can play right-back and other positions as well better than our boys like Rafa can do?

“By the way, after training Ki-Jana (Hoever) has a little injury as well, not too serious and he’s probably back for the Leicester game but these things happen.”

Camacho made a key challenge on Wilfried Zaha in the dying minutes of the Palace win and did well during pre-season.

Klopp decided against loaning him out this January and it looks like that might have been a smart decision.

Against Leicester at home, we’ll hopefully dominate the ball and territory, so we trust Camacho to do a decent enough job before Trent returns midweek against West Ham.
