Ralf Rangnick reckons Timo Werner will stay at Rb Leipzig for the next ‘two or three’ years, while also admitting it will be ‘difficult’ to keep the forward if a club like Bayern Munich come calling.
Werner is one of the most highly coveted forwards in Europe right now, having scored 14 goals this season – still aged just 22.
“If Bayern are serious, then it will be difficult for us. But they often play with one striker, so I see him staying with us for the next two or three years,” Rangnick said, reported by Ronan Murphy on Twitter.
Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in the Germany international by David Lynch in the Evening Standard, with the club needing striking reinforcements in time for next season.
Dom Solanke was sold for good money earlier this month; Daniel Sturridge is departing on a free contract and Divock Origi will surely be granted an exit after finding first-team football very difficult to come by this term.

In their place, Rhian Brewster will compete for minutes, but a high quality option from the bench to support Mo Salah or Roberto Firmino (whoever Jurgen Klopp has decided to play up top) will be a necessity.
Werner ticks all the boxes for us, especially as he’s capable of playing down the left flank as well. He may also help Naby Keita, who thrived behind him for Rb Leipzig between 2016 and 2018.
