What Sadio Mane really thinks about the Reds title run-in

Posted by

Sadio Mane says Liverpool will take the final 15 matches of the Premier League season game by game, and insists the players know there is no point getting ahead of themselves.

The closer it gets to May, the more the anticipation will rise among the fan base, but for the players, as Mane explained, the mentality cannot change.

The Reds’ number 10 said, via LiverpoolFC.com: “Of course, we are confident if we’re winning – but not too much, we know what can happen. We are still professional footballers and we’re still going to try to take it game by game.

“The season is long and we have many games. Making pressure for ourselves doesn’t help. Why not just try to win games until the end of the season?”

Mane’s attitude is perfect for what the Reds need between now and the end of the season, and puts the record straight after the false quotes which circulated a couple of weeks back.

The pressure is always going to be there representing the Reds, but using that as motivation rather than increasing the strain in the title run-in will be very important.

The relaxed demeanour of the squad at the moment is brilliant to see – it feels like the players are in control and know exactly what they need to do.

The first match of the 15-game run-in comes against Leicester City at Anfield on Wednesday night.
