Jesse Lingard has a message for Liverpool ahead of Old Trafford meeting

Jesse Lingard insists Manchester United are ready to spoil Liverpool’s party when the two sides meet at Old Trafford later this season.

The Reds’ famous rivals find themselves in ominous form having produced eight consecutive wins across all competitions since Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s introduction as manager.

United are yet to drop points since being dominated by Liverpool in their 3-1 defeat at Anfield back on December 2016 – the final game of Jose Mourinho’s tenure.

Fast forward a month and Lingard is confident of beating Jurgen Klopp’s side, who remain four points clear at the top of the Premier League and 16 points ahead of sixth-placed United.

Speaking on Soccer AM, he said: “Our way of playing has changed.”

“Next time against Liverpool? We’ll win.”

“Ole has been great since he came in. He’s given a lot of advice and he’s let us play free which has been amazing.”

A leading trait to Solskjær’s success has been the attacking impetus he has installed into a team so often criticised for setting up defensively under Mourinho.

The Norwegian is exploiting the squad’s undeniable abundance of attacking talent as he should, making them a potential thorn Liverpool must and will take seriously.

It’s for their free-flowing approach going forward that could, however, pave the way for Klopp’s men to exhibit their own ability to out-score opponents.

February 24 looks set to stage the biggest and most fascinating contest between the two sides in years.
