(Video) Watch Liverpool loanee score one & assist another in 3-0 win

Herbie Kane isn’t being spoken about quite as much as his performances this season warrant.

The Liverpool loanee produced a goal and an assist in another superb performance for Doncaster Rovers during Tuesday night’s 3-0 win over Southend United.

Kane signed for the League One club in search of regular first team football in the summer, having been a prominent fixture in Liverpool’s U23s team last season.

He has since managed 36 appearances across all competitions, with his initial half-season deal being extended until the end of the 2018/2019 campaign in December. At the same time as agreeing a longer stay, the 20-year-old was also rewarded for his development with a new long-term deal at Anfield.

Seven goals and nine assists have seen the midfielder emerge as one of Grant McCann’s key players amid Doncaster’s push for a play-off spot.

His first notable contribution against Southend arrived in the 55th minute, when he cleverly nutmegged his marker before feeding the run of eventual scorer Mallik Wilks.

He then wrapped up a 3-0 win in the 73rd minute when he broke into the box to meet John Marquis’ cross for a simple tap-in.

The victory sees Doncaster move four points clear of sixth-placed Peterborough and two points behind fifth-placed Charlton, with a game in hand.

For all the attention Harry Wilson is getting for his outstanding season at Derby, it’s probably worth keeping one eye on Kane in the meantime.
