Robbie Fowler says he is ‘apprehensive’ ahead of a huge week in the Reds’ season – because of the gap between matches that the players have had to endure.
The victory over Bournemouth already feels like an age ago, and there are still two days until the Champions League first-leg game against Bayern Munich at Anfield.
The players jetted off to complete some warm-weather training during the break – but that is not the same as playing competitive matches.
Via the Liverpool Echo, Fowler said: “I hated not being involved in games when I was a player. I’d much rather win and take the energy and rhythm from that, just as Manchester City have done in recent weeks.
“I’m a bit apprehensive about which Liverpool we will see next week against Bayern Munich and Manchester United.”

Beat Bayern and the Reds will back themselves to get into the quarter-finals of the Champions League, while a victory at Old Trafford a week today would be a massive step towards lifting the Premier League title.
Despite his hesitations, Fowler did admit: “With all the injuries they had, they’ll have been able to use the time off to get some players back fit and get their training organised, and work on things.”
Hopefully, the latter will prove to be true. The Anfield crowd should shake off any cobwebs that the players have on Tuesday, and a good performance there would be the perfect setup for the huge league fixture in Manchester next weekend.
