Liverpool rocked as linchpin misses training before Bayern

Roberto Firmino was absent from Liverpool’s Melwood training session this afternoon…

ESPN claim that our superb Brazilian  is suffering from a virus, which does at least give him a chance of playing against Bayern Munich tomorrow evening.

However, under Jurgen Klopp, when players miss the final session before a game, they very rarely start.

This is bad news for Liverpool, who rely on Firmino heavily in both offence and defence. When he plays well, he maximises the effectiveness of Sadio Mane and Mo Salah around him.

In his potential absence, Klopp has some difficult decisions to make.

We reckon he’ll bring Xherdan Shaqiri into the starting XI on the right wing, allowing Mo Salah to move central, with Sadio Mane on the left.

Another option would be playing Mane on the right, with Naby Keita on the left and Salah up top – with Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum in midfield – assuming Fabinho is going to partner Joel Matip at the back.
