Hendo explains Klopp’s plan for Oxlade-Chamberlain’s return

Jordan Henderson has predicted that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s return from injury won’t be too much longer…

The Englishman has been out since last April and hasn’t featured for Jurgen Klopp this season, but he’s now training with his team-mates at Melwood with a view of a returning before the campaign is out.

Hendo has explained that he wouldn’t be surprised if a return is closer than we thought.

“The manager will be [careful] – he is with players who have been out for a long time, he knows how difficult it is to come back,” he told the official website.

“But Ox has looked good in training and I’m sure over the next few weeks, as he builds fitness, the manager will keep a close eye on him because he is an important player, a fantastic player for this team.

“To have him back before the end of the season would be a massive boost.”

Our midfield is actually stronger now than it has been at any point previously this term. Gini Wijnaldum is playing superbly, Fabinho is an automatic starter and Naby Keita has finally started to show why he was thought of so highly in Germany.

On top of that, Henderson put in a Man of the Match performance against Bayern Munich and if fully fit, with James Milner and Adam Lallana as bench options.

When Ox returns, we really will have a number of different types of footballers to play in either a two-man or three-man midfield. Keita and Ox provide dynamism and running. Hendo and Fabinho can hold and destroy, while Gini and Milner have boundless energy and tactical nous.
