Key Reds man looks a doubt for Watford game after leaving Old Trafford on crutches

Roberto Firmino is a doubt for the game against Watford on Wednesday after he was seen leaving Old Trafford on crutches following the disappointing goalless draw against Manchester United.

Firmino was replaced by Daniel Sturridge in the first half having picked up a knock. He appeared to twist his ankle after making a pass to Mo Salah.

With a huge week ahead, culminating in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park next weekend, now would be a disastrous time to lose such a key player.

Sturridge just did not link with the rest of the players in the same way the Brazilian manages to. At this crucial period of the season, having Firmino fit is vital.

It is unclear at this stage how bad the injury is. It is likely to be assessed in the coming days – so it might be a while before we know for certain the length of time he is likely to be out for.

Fingers crossed it’s not serious.
