How Alisson can break Cech’s All-Time PL clean-sheet record

Petr Cech and Edwin van der Sar currently hold the Premier League clean-sheet record for a single season – having racked up 21 in 2003/04 and 2008/09 respectively.

Alisson currently sits on 15 after 27 games, meaning he needs seven from the remaining 11 fixtures to break the record and six to equal it.

Considering the teams we’re playing; Watford, Everton, Burnley, Fulham, Spurs, Southampton, Cardiff, Chelsea, Huddersfield, Newcastle and Wolves; we’d be surprised if the Brazilian doesn’t get six at least.

Versus United yesterday, the 26-year-old made an extraordinary save with Jesse Lingard trying to round him – although other than that – he was hardly troubled.

It’s making big saves in big moments though that is why we paid enormous money for Alisson. A Liverpool keeper shouldn’t be busy – but he must be able to produce the unexpected when our defence is breached.

Aslisson had a shaky January, along with the defence, actually – but he seems to be back in form now after three consecutive clean-sheets in all competitions.
