Liverpool made enquiry for 30-goal Bundesliga star claim Don Balon

Liverpool were reportedly one of multiple top European clubs to make an enquiry about Eintracht Frankfurt’s in-demand Luka Jovic.

The striker has attracted attention from across the continent after rising to the top of the Bundesliga’s scoring charts with 15 goals in 21 appearances so far this season.

He currently boasts a record of 30 in 57 outings across all competitions since signing for Eintracht on loan from Benfica in 2017.

Despite interest from Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Liverpool, Don Balon claim Jovic has his heart set on a move to Barcelona.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to prioritise the signing of another goalscorer in the summer as he seeks to add back-up for his heavily-relied upon front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Injury to the latter in Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Manchester Untied at Old Trafford further underlined the need for attacking reinforcements.

RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner has been sounded out as a potential option as the German striker continues to delay signing an extension at the club.

The 22-year-old is, however, likely to demand a hefty fee if Leipzig look to sell up rather than lose him on a free upon the expiry of his current contract in 2020.
