Mourinho demanded Real Madrid sign Liverpool star in job meeting

Jose Mourinho was reportedly on the shortlist Real Madrid drew up to replace former manager Santiago Solari and he wanted four Premier League stars to join him in Spain – before Zinedine Zidane got the gig.

Virgil van Dijk, Christian Eriksen, Harry Kane and David De Gea were the players on Mourinho’s radar, according to the Mirror, in what would have been a impressive haul!

Sergio Ramos is the main man at Real and a partnership of him and van Dijk would be terrifying, with Virgil presumably taking the place of Raphael Varane in Jose’s prospective starting XI.

Considering we paid a mammoth fee of £75million for the equally titanic Dutchman 14 months ago, we’d expect Liverpool to ask at least double that for van Dijk.

Scratch that – the Reds’ hierarchy would tell Real Madrid to swivel – obviously!

Now Zidane has taken the reigns, the Daily Mail report that the Spanish giants are interested in Sadio Mane – with van Dijk’s name nowhere in sight.

The Mail also claims that Los Blancos have made Eden Hazard their top priority. Considering the Belgian international and Mane are both right-footed left-wingers, it’s curious as to where they’d both fit in at the Bernabéu – not that we’d sell our no.10 either.

For what it’s worth – I don’t think we’d consider selling any of our players to Real Madrid, unless someone kicks up a Coutinho-esque fuss.
