Bayern boss Niko Kovac makes ridiculous excuse for Champions League exit

Liverpool only beat Bayern Munich because of how much money Jurgen Klopp has spent in the last few years – that is the incredible view of the German champion’s coach Niko Kovac.

The Croatian clearly has not taken his team’s European exit well and has been under pressure this season having made a tough start to his first season in the job.

To claim that Klopp has spent a lot, though, is simply untrue. Kovac has conveniently ignored the money brought in through the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona and several other players in that time.

The Reds were simply better than Bayern over the two legs, though tactics and coaching far more than money invested. Kovac’s claim is a lazy excuse that he has said purely to deflect from his own shortcomings.

With FC Porto to come in the quarter-finals, the Reds have a great chance to make the semi-finals for the second time in two seasons. It won’t be easy, but having performed so well against Bayern, the players know they have it in them to progress.
