Jurgen Klopp rubbishes claim he should join European giant

Jurgen Klopp has spoken out after German football legend Franz Beckenbauer declared that the Liverpool manager would be ideal for Bayern Munich.

Klopp was flattered by the suggestion but insisted he’s happy at Anfield. “From my point of view, being here at Liverpool is a really good fit. I love it. The club has given me a lot of opportunities to develop a really good football team,” he’s quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo.

There are a lot of people talking constantly about things,” he continued. “If you win a game, you are the best. If you lose a game, you have no clue about football. That’s the world out there, but inside this club we are not involved in that because we don’t think in that way.

What I will say is that I have enough confidence to say I am the right manager for this club at this moment.

Of course, we will see how that is in the future. We all have to prove every day that we are in the right place. So far it has all worked out for me here – and hopefully it will last a bit longer.”

Bayern Munich were close to appointing the Liverpool boss as their manager 11 years ago, according to the Mirror, but they went with Jurgen Klinsmann in the end.

As per BBC Sport, Klopp has a deal that runs until the summer of 2022 and the fans will surely be delighted if he – at least – sees out his contract.

It seems everyone wants our boss! He had been linked with the previously vacant job at Real Madrid, but it’s a good thing that he’s turning heads as it shows just how good of a job he’s doing.

Speaking on Beckenbauer, Klopp said he is fortunate to have known him for 14 years. “It is something special and I think I can say we are friends. When he speaks positively about me, it is just like the king knighting a man ‘sir’,” he said

There is no bigger football legend in Germany than Franz Beckenbauer. It’s a compliment to me and a compliment to Liverpool. But I am very happy with the clubs I have had and I am very happy with the club I’m at now.”
