‘Wow…’ Former LFC ace went to Melwood and was ‘purring when I got home’ because of Alisson

Ex-Liverpool goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has lauded Alisson after watching him training for Liverpool.

According to Kirkland, who played for us between 2001 and 2006, our Brazilian stopper is the best he’s ever seen in the flesh – some compliment from an England international.

Kirkland told talkSPORT, cited in the Star: “I’ve been lucky enough to be down at the training ground a couple of times and he’s the only goalkeeper I’ve watched and gone, ‘Wow’.

“I walked away and I was purring when I got home.

“I was smiling because I’d just seen an incredible session from him.”

Alisson arrived from AS Roma in the summer of 2018 and has been nothing short of a revelation between our sticks.

He is not only phenomenal with the ball at his feet and has world-class distribution skills; but he’s brave, a commander of his area and has a habit of pulling off world-class saves when we most need him to.

Fabinho was a brilliant signing, and Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri have bolstered our midfield options, but Alisson was Jurgen Klopp’s most crucial piece of business following our Champions League Final failure.

With the 26-year-old in goal, Liverpool have the best defensive record of any club in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

Virgil van Dijk has played an enormous part in that, too.
