Gerrard in trouble as Ryan Kent charged for flooring Scott Brown

Out on loan at Steven Gerrard’s Rangers, Ryan Kent has now been charged after clashing with Celtic captain, Scott Brown, in Sunday’s Old Firm derby.

In an altercation between the two, the Rangers winger floored Brown with a shove and attempted left-hook at Celtic Park. Initially escaping punishment, the 22-year-old Englishman has now been sentenced with a two-match ban by the Scottish FA.

There was earlier drama when Rangers had Alfredo Morelos and Andy Halliday sent off as tempers flared at Parkhead.

Celtic took the lead with five minutes left on the clock after James Forrest’s late winner on Sunday. In the fallout of the goal, Kent lashed out after reported provocations from Scott Brown.

Our on-loan winger also scored an incredible solo equaliser for the Gers to make it 1-1: watch it here!

The Scottish FA referred the case to a disciplinary panel that saw fit to hand the Liverpool loanee a suspension. Gerrard could decide to contest the ban, which would force a Scottish FA tribunal hearing on Thursday.

With six goals and nine assists to his name, Kent will miss key games against Hearts and Motherwell. Stevie wants to try and keep Ryan Kent at the Ibrox, but since we’ve priced him at £12 million it might be out of the Liverpool legend’s budget.

After picking up his fifth red card of the season, Gerrard will also be unable to call on striker Alfredo Morelos who will be banned for four games for elbowing Scott Brown in the face.

Following a controversial and eventful derby, Gerrard’s Rangers are now nine points behind their fierce rivals who are currently in pole position in the Scottish Premiership.
