Reported Adrien Rabiot snub is a good thing for Liverpool

Despite his doppelgänger watching our incredible, frentic 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, it looks like Adrien Rabiot is set to snub interest from Anfield this summer.

Reports from Calciomercato have suggested that the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has his heart set on linking up with fellow Frenchman, Zinedine Zidane, at the Bernebeu.

If the 23-year-old does end up joining Real Madrid it won’t be a blow to the Reds. Rabiot’s attitude and behaviour has been called into question.

At Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool, there is no space for any kind of egoism, delinquency, or disobdience. The France international has been effectively shut out of the Parisian club and has not played for the Ligue 1 leaders since December.

After being eliminated by Manchester United in the Champions League, Rabiot was apparently seen partying in a nightclub; he has also sacked his mother as his agent in a bid to secure a big move away on a free at the end of the season.

While signing a player of his ability on a Bosman is obviously good business, Klopp will be wary of upsetting the balance of his dressing room.

News that the exiled midfielder is keen to join Real Madrid is arguably a good thing. Let Zidane and Real Madrid deal with him – we’re only after players with the right character who will give their all for our club.

We can’t afford to have a player who could down tools or who might lack the team ethic and selflessness that fuels this Liverpool team.
