Liverpool target Insigne admits he could get “offer I can’t refuse” in summer

Earlier today, Liverpool target and Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne has suggested that he could be faced with a decision that would rival Don Vito Corleone.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, the dimunitive Italian admitted,“I am 28 years old [this year] and it could happen that I receive an offer I can’t refuse.”

Should Liverpool be the club to make that offer, the general consensus it that most Reds would be thrilled to welcome his pace, ingenuity, and prolific goal-scoring to Anfield.

“I’ve proved what I am worth and there are people around who appreciate me. Right now, in this phase, I am not even thinking about it,” Insigne continued.

“However, I know full well that there are those around who appreciate me. But there are no clubs, no approaches, no shows of interest.

“It is my duty to think, without being immodest, that over the years at Napoli I’ve shown what I can do. As long as I am at Napoli, I will always give 110 per cent. I want to stay here for a long time.”

The talented forward is Naples-born so may find it hard to leave his boyhood club, but he also revealed that, “It irritates me to always arrive on the verge of success and then find myself empty-handed, without a trophy to raise to the sky.

“This irritates my teammates too, as this Napoli side is so strong and deserves that moment of satisfaction.

Napoli did win the Coppa Italia in 2014 and with Carlo Ancelotti at the helm the Partenopei look set to challenge for the Europa League this year as they face off against Arsenal in the quarter-finals.

Of course, Napoli are only there because we knocked them out of the Champions League back in December.

With nine goals to his name and sitting second in the table to Juventus, Insigne might cast admiring glances over at us in the summer.

By that time we could potentially be champions and the Italy international might fancy his chances of playing with title contenders rather than continually gazing upward at Juventus.
