The trip to St Mary’s was familiar territory for more than a few of the Reds last night. Virgil van Dijk was spared none of the Southampton fans boos, but Sadio Mané was free from their ire.
With a Ryan Bertrand player down, seemingly feigning injury, the Senegalese was on hand to try and quicken the time-wasting with the score still level.
Southampton defender Maya Yoshida took umbrage at being rushed until he realised it was his old mate Sadio.
The two played together at Southampton for two seasons before Mané took the well-trodden path from the south coast up to L4.
