Casillas stirs up controversy with post-match Twitter post…

Iker Casillas reckons FC Porto were robbed last night.

Liverpool strolled to a 2-0 victory at Anfield, when really, the score could have been a little more convincing if we’d have played with vigour in the second-half as well as the first.

The legendary Spanish goalkeeper though took to Twitter following the full-time whistle and posted pictures of Mo Salah’s challenge on Danilo and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s handball:

The tweet translates, as such:

“I Am 100% optimistic! Considering the results of Champions League QFs, we cannot think the tie is lost. We will fight to move to the semifinals. Thanks to all the Porters for the support in Liverpool!”

While we can understand that Salah was maybe a little lucky – although the incident was completely accidental, had no malice and didn’t injure the player – the Trent handball was never a penalty.

VAR was used throughout the game, much to the confusion of everybody in Anfield, and decided neither incident warranted punishment.

Fair play to Casillas for being confident about the second-leg, but we’re now heavy favourites. One goal in Portugal will effectively kill the tie next week.
