Jurgen Klopp should be disappointed with Naby Keita’s first début season at Liverpool, according to club legend Steve Nicol.

The Guinean midfielder signed for the Reds for a fee of around £58million after lengthy negotiations with Bundesliga club Red Bull Leipzig.

I think in all honesty Klopp will be a little disappointed with what he’s got this season from Keita,” Nicol told ESPN – via the Express.

Let’s be honest, we’ve got five games left and we’re saying he’s starting to pick it up. I mean, he hasn’t done particularly well.

He’s had a couple of games where he’s played back to back but other than that he’s pretty much not been seen much this season.”

There’s no question he fits the mould of Liverpool’s middle three. He will get around the field, he will close the ball down, he will get the ball to the front three.

But when they bought this guy, the idea was then for him to chip in with some goals as well.”

The Reds’ number eight arrived at the club with a glittering reputation following two impressive seasons in Germany.

Keita has struggled for form since moving to the Premier League, but has turned it around of late. His last two appearances for the club has resulted in his first two goals for the club.

Somehow the 5’6″ midfielder leapt ahead of the Southampton centre backs to head home Liverpool’s equaliser after going down 1-0 to a Shane Long opener.

The Guinean international then scored early on for the Reds against Porto in the Champions League – undoubtedly changing a few people’s opinions of him.
