Klopp warns Porto will think like Liverpool and try to overturn UCL tie

Based on our knack for turning round ties, Jürgen Klopp has told Liverpoolfc.com that we’ll be up against a side that will feel Wednesday’s quarter-final tie is still there for the taking.

The balance of the Champions League quarter-final second leg at the Estádio do Dragão is still titled in our favour though as we take a 2-0 lead to Portugal.

“If we were 2-0 down and going into the home leg, would we think we were out? No way. That’s exactly what Porto are thinking”, the German admitted.

“They always have a high intense game in the highest intense atmosphere. From the first kick they will go with a clear direction.

“We can compare it a little bit to the City game last year when we were 3-0 up and everybody thought, ‘halfway through’ or whatever.

“We go there to win the game, that’s the plan. It’s not easy, we know that, but we should not think about anything else because that’s always the aim.”

By depriving Porto of an away goal and with a fairly comfortable lead in tow, we’re still very much in the driving seat for Wednesday night.

But, as Klopp has warned, we need to make sure that complacency doesn’t creep into our game; it will still be white-hot away atmosphere and we need to be on our guard as they try to overturn the deficit.

At our best we can beat anyone and we feel the Reds will be able to get through this last-eight meeting, despite coming up against a Porto team buoyed by the return of Pepe and Hector Herrera.
