Porto defender will regret pre-match comments on these Liverpool players…

When will they learn?

Time and time again, European opponents talk a big game before facing us, and then get walloped by Jurgen Klopp’s exceptional Reds.

It usually happens with players questioning the effectiveness of our Anfield atmosphere – but before we played the first-leg v FC Porto, defender Danilo promised to get the better of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah.

“It’s a very offensive team,” he told Record via Mirror on April 9.

“Mane, Salah, Firmino? They won’t pass me by! That’s what I think and I give my all the best.”

Liverpool won the tie 6-1 on aggregate, after securing a 2-0 home victory. Having weathered an early storm at the Dragao last night, we pumped the Portuguese 4-1 – with the famous front-three all getting on the scoresheet.

We just really hope Lionel Messi and co. explain how our defence isn’t up to much before the semi-finals, or that the noise at Camp Nou is more intimidating – although we imagine they’ll be a little more savvy!

The tie takes place at the end of April, with the second-leg sandwiched between our two final Premier League games.
