Gullit left with egg on face after Salah form dip claim

Netherlands and Milan legend Ruud Gullit will have given a fair few Liverpool fans a good chuckle with what he said prior to the Reds’ demolition of Porto.

According to the former Chelsea man, Mo Salah wasn’t playing well before netting against the Blues and then the Portuguese giants. “[He’s] been in horrible form,” he told beIN SPORT.

I watched the game against Southampton – he was the worst on the pitch! Until that moment he scored that goal.

I think it’s not totally his fault, because he played the World Cup, he had his shoulder injury, he couldn’t rest because always in the Premier League he has to play, 100%.”

The Premier League’s top goal-scorer failed to bag in eight appearances between February and April – his longest dry spell at Liverpool.

The Egyptian arguably put an end to his rough patch against Spurs when his header resulted in Toby Alderweireld knocking the ball into his own net to give the Reds a 2-1 lead.

Then last week [against Chelsea] he scored an unbelievable goal. It means he’s got his form back again,” Gullit added.

‘Horrible’ is definitely an odd way to describe Salah’s form over the last couple of months. The winger was still putting in good shifts for us – he just wasn’t hitting the back of net.
