Alisson claims Liverpool are focused on Cardiff City

Liverpool travel to Cardiff this weekend as the Reds look to cement their place at the top of the Premier League table going into next week.

Manchester City face off against Spurs today in what may prove to be a crucial fixture in the race for the title – points dropped by the Citizens will sway things in our favour.

With City playing first it may put pressure on Jurgen Klopp’s men to grind out a result away at the relegation-threatened Bluebirds.

Teams in the place they find themselves in are rarely pushovers, but there’s a reason they’re at risk.

Liverpool secured their place in the Champions League semi-finals this week, but Alisson isn’t thinking any further than Sunday’s opposition.

“Immediately after the game we were obviously really happy to have got through to the semi-finals, it’s a great achievement in the career of each individual player,” he told LFC’s official website.

“Now that we’re so close, everything we do needs to be perfect and [we need to] win all the remaining games, but we have two simultaneous objectives: to win the Premier League and the Champions League.

“Our next challenge is Cardiff. I’m sure it’ll be a great challenge for us, we’re playing away and that’s always difficult in the Premier League.

“[Teams in the relegation battle have] their objectives and we’ve got ours, so both sides will really be fighting. They’ll be highly focused, they’ll have the fans on their side, but we have to handle the conditions there and win. It’s what we want and it’s what we’re going to fight for.”

Alisson’s attitude is second to none and it’s one of the reasons why we’re going to fight for these title right down to the wire.

It’d be daft to overlook any of our remaining games in the Premier League; if we drop points at Cardiff then those hard-fought victories against Spurs and Chelsea will count for nothing.

We’re now in a great position. City are now up against the Lilywhites and may very well drop points – a win for us this weekend may make us strong favourites for domestic glory.
