Klopp fuming with the Premier League; thinks they should help clubs in Europe

Jurgen Klopp believes that the Premier League should use their power to maximise the chances of their clubs winning trophies on the European stage.

Liverpool are in discussions to move their fixture against Newcastle United – the game is set to be played between the Reds’ Champions League semi-final legs against Barcelona.

The clash with the Geordies is set to be moved back to the Saturday ahead of the semi-final second leg.

It was initially scheduled for Sunday, May the 5th, but with the Catalans coming to town just two days later, the trip to the east is now set to be played on the day before.

The Dutch League had a real problem because with the last two match days all the games were on the same day,” Klopp told the Liverpool Echo.

Would something like that happen in England? No, I don’t think it would happen. I don’t think it would happen in Germany either to be 100% honest.

But I think the Premier League should support teams. We now have four English teams in the semi-finals in Europe and that is a big number. Can they do it? I don’t know.

We all signed the big contracts with the TV stations. On the one side we want the money and on the other side it is not always working out. If it is possible then everybody should help.

It is a busy schedule over the year. For us, it’s okay. It’s clear that we will play Newcastle on the Saturday, we’re just not 100% sure when. It would be important if we could play Newcastle in the late game on the Saturday and not the 12.30pm kick-off. That would be strange.

What Holland is doing I don’t think is possible in all countries. If the whole world is watching you and you have signed these massive contracts then I don’t know if it is possible. But it would be nice if it was possible and they would do it.
