“Only club I’d sign for” – Liverpool “target’s” preferred destination revealed

Lille star Nicolas Pepe, who also has the interests of Arsenal and Chelsea, has seemingly decided where he wants t ply his trade in the future – and it’s not good news for Liverpool.

The two London clubs have apparently been chasing the 23-year-old for several years and, while Anfield may make for an interesting destination, it seems he’s set on a move to the capital.

Speaking on a French television broadcast back in April 2017, Pepe was asked which English club would be his dream move.

Chelsea,” he replied. “It’s the club in England that makes me dream. It’s the only club in England that I would sign for.”

The interview is almost two years old, mind you, but it does show where he may see his future – and it’s not in red. The Blues have a transfer ban hanging over their heads and are unable to buy any new players.

Pepe would likely serve as a backup for either Sadio Mane and/or Mo Salah if he was somehow convinced Anfield should be his home.

The forward would be an ideal signing for Chelsea, as Eden Hazard looks dead on to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer with Real Madrid looming.

The Ligue 1 star has scored 31 times in 66 games for Lille and would be a nice addition to Maurizio Sarri’s squad with Callum Hudson-Odoi also flourishing.
